During the State FFA Convention, OVATA has invited a NAAE Teach AgEd representative to conduct workshops for students and advisors. Please make it a point to promote attendance at the workshops. Ellen Thompson will be the speaker and she brings high energy and enthusiasm in her message.

The first workshop will be at 12:00pm Sunday March 21. This workshop will be for advisors only and is planned to last one hour. At 9:00 am Monday morning March 22, Ellen will be conducting a workshop that is open to anyone who wishes to attend. This is a great time to engage your young members and any visiting parents to the potential career path of teaching agriculture.

In addition to the workshops mention above, OVATA and OSU would like to extend a very special opportunity to students that are either serious about becoming an agriculture teacher or are students that you indentify who possess skills and talents that would make them great candidates to become a teacher. Ellen will be conducting a special two-hour long workshop specifically for these students on Sunday March 21 at 4:00. This event will be invitation only; therefore, we need your help identifying the students who should receive an invitation.

Please forward the names and mailing addresses of 1-3 students in your program that should consider agriculture teaching as a future career. Don’t sell our profession short! Today’s agricultural education programs need the best and brightest students that excel not only in career and technical education and FFA, but also those students who are good in math, science, and other academic areas. Once we have received your students’ names and contact information, OSU will send each student an invitation to attend the event.
